Lavonia is located a few miles from Hartwell and offers a small town atmosphere with a Twenty-First Century progressive attitude. It is the smallest city in the US with an original Carnegie Library, built in 1911. The downtown is filled with antique shops and delightful restaurants.
The Folk Life play, The Land of Spirit Folk is performed each summer and fall by locals and is a reflection of the heritage and culture of the area. Lavonia Motor Speedway is a 3/8 mile slightly banked clay oval racetrack. Their weekly racing runs March - September. Tugaloo Park sits on Hartwell Lake and offers camping and cabin rentals along with swimming, boating, and fishing.
